Prof. Dr. Hans Wolfgang Brachinger: Hans Wolfgang Brachinger holds a chair of statistics at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. With his work, e.g. about inflation and price index, he rates among the leading European researchers in his field. His concept of ‘perceived inflation’ has now established well beyond the academic boundaries.

Besides being a professor, Mr Brachinger is the president of the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, the editor of the magazine AstA Wirtschafts- und Sozialstatistisches Archiv of the German Statistical Society, and the head of the Centre of Research for Economic Statistic.
